Before my honeymoon closed by end of Q1, here's something I snake out...hees

Checklist—Concert Goers Survival Guide

1) Wear a pair of comfy flat-heel shoes—Cos you will DEFINITELY not be glued to your seat the whole night. You will STAND on your feet--at some point in time; the POIGNANT moment/s, when your heart takes control of your mind.

2) Bring party light sticks. Don’t just bring one, bring a few--In case the one you are holding is spoilt, or you can generously give the extras to your neighbors who have forgotten to bring. For those who are bringing battery-run touched lights, it’s likely that your battery will go flat in the midst of the concert, so bring extras batteries will help.

3) If you are bringing your partner along—think twice. If he/she is not going to be as HIGH as you, hmm…then it may be better to leave him/her at home. Else, your mood will be dampened by his/her unforgiving sulking stares.

4) Before you go to the concert, be mentally /psychologically programme--YOU GONNA HAVE FUN IN THE CONCERT! NO MATTER WHAT!!! U’R GONNA HAVE LOTS OF FUN!! So, in the case of any unforeseen unpleasant matters arise—such as your neighbor got BO, you’ve been blocked by people in front , you have a bad hair day…you gonna be GRACIOUS and FORGIVING…and ENJOY THE NIGHT!!

5) Be physically fit and mentally well—So, EAT WELL AND SLEEP WELL. You don’t wish to faint there and be carried out like a corpse.

6) Respect the concert and the artistes—Dress your best for them! Doll up as though you are going to your FIRST DATE! BUT wear something nice but COMFORTABLE! It’s uncool to wear a long tailing gown and expect everyone to stand a meter away from you.

7) Smell good cos you’ll perspired as the concert goes on. Wear on a nice sense of perfume/cologne.. .
8) Be at least 15 mins early for the concert—To get yourself prepared and ready.

9) Take good care of the friends you go with to the concert. Love your neighbors.

10) THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT---Please REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR ENTRY TICKET ON THE CONCERT NIGHT—Else all the above will not be applicable to you.

something from the ba gua TV blog again - here

Season 1's winner 'Milubing' was brilliant in transforming diefferent themes into their own style.

Yes, Milubing. I like the Milubing's boys. After their first best-selling album and that wonderful 'The Golden Path' drama theme song that is getting alot of radio airplay each hour as we speak, they are now working on their 2nd album with at least 5 new songs written by themselves slated for a June or July release.

I am going to invite them to perform at the June 1st concert at IMM Garden Plaza and hopefully we will all be treated to a preview of their new album songs!

Alright, I've installed a new tagboard here. Just have to click the "comments" under "anything to say" and you will be able to tag.

It's less glam but at least can tag longer comments. Sorry ya - the "flood" at the old tagboard is making me a little blur. LOL!

适应

无意中发现迷路兵的歌《适应》在醉心龙虎榜上晋级到第9名了。恭喜恭喜！

还记得当初他们的制作人gary打电话来要我为这首歌的歌词作调整的时候，因为时间太赶，担心出不了货。想想，如果那时候要是没狠下心接下它，估计我的第一首在933上榜的歌恐怕就不会是这首了：）（注：杨丞琳的《可爱》只在８８３打过，９３３只打了她的《遇上爱》和《过敏》如果我没有记错的话）

Sam唱的不错！蛮深情的：）其实和他们接触也不是太多，不过他给人的感觉很友善也很humble!

这张专辑真的花了他们不少心血。其实音乐这条路是这样，大家都只看到表面的风光，背后的辛劳其实很难被大家所了解。一首歌，从词，曲，编曲，录音，和音到混音，还有期间的修修改改，不知道是大家所听到的这３分或４分钟final product的多少倍！

他们是幸运的，因为作品能够被摆上了CD shop!　所以我相信，他们也很珍惜这个机会，想给他家听他们最好的音乐。在日渐低迷的唱片市场，要出一张专辑比想象的要难很多。

好好支持本地音乐吧！这个梦想要我们大家一起来完成！"

Strictly speaking this isn't 100% related to Milubing but in a way it's still useful. Cos some time back, we were having confusions on the voting rules of Yes933 POTP right? Thanks to Vanessa, she already clarified our doubts (at least mine)...

glad to answer the MLBians' doubts. :)

ok. strictly speaking, its actually one person one vote one song one method, which means you cannot vote for multiple songs per method.
however, if you stray a little from the rules, its possible for one to use both sms and coupons to vote in a week for different songs without getting caught. but you're still restricted to one sms one song and one coupon one song.

eg. in a wk, i can use one sms to vote for 泪, and one coupon to vote for 适应 as they wont be able to tell that you're the same person. [sms doesnt require personal particulars. all they have us your phone no. and if you're gonna vote using both methods, please do not put the hp no on the coupon as the hp no that you're gonna use to sms in, just in case they keep records, which i believe they do.]

if u want to vote more for both songs, u can grab a friends phone and sms in, as they wont have a record of that no smsing in to vote for a song in that week. as for coupons, um.. just grab a friend's address and fill in with their address and their particulars. oh and dont paste 2 coupons on one envolope to play safe, as i'm not too sure if that one's counted as not following the rules.

Well, after checking the Sembawang Music Centre chart online, there's no trace of Milubing's album in top ten =(... however, for the CD rama best seller chart this week, some say their album is number 9, some say number 10. What I saw was number 10 =)...

Another matter, 18 chefs is being interviewed and pulished in this week's 8 days magazine, do check it out (yo~)!

Milo-beng or Milubing is really my favorite SuperBand and a good role model for all our Campus SuperStar. They don’t just sing, they know how to play excellent instruments and they compose super nice songs and very very nice chaps in real life.

If any of the Campus SuperStar is thinking that the whole competition process is very tiring and draining your life force, you don’t deserve to win. Unlike solo singing, you have to do so much more like coordinating your time and work as a team and invent new musical arrangement to the choice of your song week after week (plus they are not as lucky as Campus SuperStar, they have to reserach and pay for their own clothes). The pressure was alot tougher in SuperBand but Milubing never gave up their passion.

Nic, the lead singer and guitarist is not only the most handsome but super talented. You are very wrong if you think Nic is some kind of a rebellious fellow… He is very sensitive and romantic. He started playing the guitar and singing Spanish song ‘El Condor Pasa’ at the age of 5! The super nice hit song ‘TEARS’ is written by Nic. Nic graduated from Jurong Secondary School & School of Audio Engineering. He is now serving his NS and looking even more shuai with his NS hair-cut. Have you seen Nic singing and playing the electric guitar? Cool man!

Drummer Sam is another cutie. This is one of the most polite gentlemen I have ever come across (the other one is Nathaniel Tan of Project SuperStar 2). Like Nic, Sam also composes and sings. Sam is more of a ‘sentimental song’ person whereas Nic can do rock (yah, Zijie, if you are reading this, you are hopelessly lost in rock). He picked up drum during his secondary school days. He can play the piano and guitar too. Sam is also a good chef…sweet isn’t it? He graduated from St Andrews junior and secondary schools and he just finished NS and now concentrating on music.

Weiqi – Leader, Keyboradist & Vocal, the ultra artistic guy who is also a ‘beat-box’ expert started playing the piano at age 3! He is also very good with the Chinese flute. Weiqi graduated from Cedar Primary School, Chung Cheng High (Main) and Temasek JC. His artistic portfolio earned him a place now at NTU’s School of Art, Design and Media.

I am so very happy that their 1st album is out today and managed to buy one this afternoon. The CD is very nice with most of the songs written by the boys about friendship, love, hope and courage. This a must-buy album and easily at the top of my favorite CD of all time. I do hope if you all can go and check it out. Good music should be shared and promoted.

By the way, you can bring along your Milubing’s debut album and get them to sign on it at Jurong Entertainment Centre （15/7）, Bishan Junction 8（22/7）and Bukit Panjang Plaza（28/7）. Milubing will also be performing on Ch 8’s SPD Charity Show next Sunday at 7pm together with Campus SuperStar Top 8!

He learnt more than recipes from Jamie

S'porean trained at British celeb chef's restaurant to set up own eatery to groom wayward youths

HE managed to do what most chefs dream about - work at British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Fifteen.

Mr Se Teo (above), pictured here in his old restaurant, didn't get to meet Oliver when he was working in the celebrity chef's restaurant.

Oliver, popularly known as The Naked Chef, is the author of many cookbooks and his television shows are a staple in more than 50 countries.

Tables at the trendy Fifteen restaurant are booked three months in advance.

Mr Benny Se Teo, 47, is the only Singaporean so far to have worked in the restaurant. He was there in April last year.

Mr Se Teo, who became a chef in 2005, worked there as a kitchen helper for a month.

But it wasn't just cooking skills he wanted to pick up at Fifteen.

He also wanted to see how the non-profit restaurant helps disadvantaged youths and juvenile delinquents by training them as chefs to keep them away from crime.

A former drug addict, Mr Se Teo was in and out of jail four times between 1980 and 1993. His life changed for the better after he went to a drug halfway house in 1993.

The experience at Fifteen inspired him to open a similar restaurant late last month.

Called Eighteen Chefs, it's located in Eastpoint shopping centre near Simei MRT station.

Mr Se Teo said: 'I feel proud to know that I was the first Singaporean to work there. It was a humbling experience because I had to learn many things, not just in cooking but also in helping juveniles.'

Fifteen's director, Mr Liam Black, confirmed that Mr Se Teo was the only Singaporean to have worked there.

The restaurant's website states that it does not recruit trainees outside the UK, but Mr Black said they made an exception for Mr Se Teo.

Mr Black said over the phone from London: 'He said he was keen to come over and we said, 'Why not?'. We always welcome similar-minded people from around the world.'

JAMIE WHO?

Mr Se Teo admitted he came to know about Oliver and his work only in late 2005 through a patron at the now-defunct Goshen restaurant in Lorong 23 Geylang, where he was working as the executive chef.

During a chat with Mr Black on the Fifteen website, Mr Se Teo asked if he could spend some time as an apprentice and got a swift welcome from Mr Black.

It also helped that several Singaporeans who were chatting in the forum confirmed his credentials as the executive chef of Goshen, a social enterprise started by the HighPoint halfway house in early 2005 to provide jobs for ex-offenders.

During his stint at Fifteen, Mr Se Teo said he worked with chefs in different departments.

Unfortunately, he couldn't meet Oliver as he was abroad.

Mr Se Teo said: 'I thought I knew a lot about cooking but over there, I realised that there was so much I didn't know, especially about Western food.'

He said the chefs were very meticulous while preparing each dish - down to minute details such as the fire's intensity and the type of ingredients used.

Besides cooking, Mr Se Teo, who spent around $7,000 for the trip and received no pay, also became a mentor to the trainee chefs, recounting his life experiences.

He developed a close bond with the trainees and even went with them on a study trip to Wales.

Mr Black said: 'We really liked him. He was a hard worker. He also looked after the young people here and went on trips with them.'

Mr Andrew Parkinson, Fifteen's executive head chef, praised MrSeTeo as someone 'very dedicated to his vision'.

Mr Parkinson said: 'I also can't fault his cooking and attention to detail. I'd rate his cooking as very good.'

Mr Se Teo said he too gained through his work with the trainees.

He said he formed a close bond with Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo, widely known as Oliver's mentor.

Mr Contaldo owns the Passione restaurant in London's West End, but he spends time almost every day at Fifteen to guide and nurture the trainees.

After knocking off at Fifteen, Mr Se Teo said he would walk with Mr Contaldo to the subway station to take the train home.

Besides exchanging cooking recipes and techniques, Mr Se Teo, who stayed in a $90-a-night room at a youth hostel, said they also discussed Fifteen's work in helping disadvantaged youths.

'He was supportive of my vision in setting up a restaurant here, like Fifteen,' recalled Mr Se Teo.

But when he returned home, he found himself jobless as Goshen had closed down.

He then joined a restaurant chain here before quitting late last year to set up Eighteen Chefs with two partners, who are also his church friends.

The restaurant, with a seating capacity of 50, has a $200,000 start-up capital, said one of the partners, Mr Bambang Widjaja, 27.

Its menu, mostly Italian dishes, and concept are influenced by Mr Se Teo's experiences at Fifteen.

He said he has hired an ex-convict, who is a former drug addict, as part of his current seven-member staff.

And he is open to hiring and training more in the future.

He said: 'Like Oliver, I hope to train 17 other chefs to set up branches all over Singapore. I hope they will employ ex-offenders or train delinquents as chefs.'
